The presentation Monday, March 14, 2022, will be an overview of the historical background of St. Patrick who is celebrated on the anniversary of his death March 17. The significance of his life, the celebration through parades, festivals, and the" wearing of the green" will be explored.
Celebrations by region and the "Global Greening Initiative" will be explained. "Drowning the shamrock" and the emergence of corned beef and cabbage are among the traditions which have grown up around this holiday which has gone beyond the religious significance to a day when "Everybody is Irish!"
A quiz will be provided with a prize for the most correct answers.
