Jill Aquino, Environmental Health Nurse and daughter of GAAMC member Liz Cieri, will be doing a presentation on the Ramapough Lenape Turtle Clan of Ringwood, NJ on Monday, October 5 at 6PM. Jill has been working with the Ramapough Turtle Clan since 2022 when she became the nurse and Community Coordinator on a five year grant awarded to NYU Medical School, Environmental Medicine Division by NIEHS (National Institutes of Environmental Health Services). The purpose of this five-year grant is to use the Munsee Three Sisters Medicinal Farm in Andover, Sussex County, NJ to bring food sovereignty back to this clan who are suffering from food scarcity due to the Ford Motor Company dumping of toxins on the Turtle Clan’s native land in Ringwood, Passaic County, NJ in the 1960s-70s. This clan is dying of rare cancers at alarming rates due to years and years of toxic exposure from Ford Motor Company’s toxic metals and paint sludge.
