Mothers and Sons

Join us for a recorded performance of Terrence McNally's Mothers and Sons.

Mothers and Sons, by Terrence McNally, is about a mother who pays a surprise visit to the New York apartment of her late son's ex-partner, who is now married to another man and has a young son. Challenged to face how society has changed around her—without her—she is finally able to see the rich life her son might have led. The play is an expansion on McNally's 1988 drama Andre’s Mother, which was set at a memorial service for a victim of the AIDS crisis. Mothers and Sons also marks the first time a legally wed gay couple was portrayed on Broadway. It was nominated for two Tony Awards including for Best Play.
