Collecting Donations for the Homeless

GAAMC and the LGBT+ Committee of Wind of the Spirit are joining forces to support First United Methodist Church’s open house event for the area’s homeless adults and families. On Thursday, September 20th, Pastor Charles and a team of volunteers will invite the needy to come and “shop” for free, just like GAAMC’s Freecycle Frenzy. To help do our share, GAAMC is collecting the following items, now through Monday, September 17:

Jackets
Sweaters
Hats
Vests
Gloves
Scarves
Back-Packs
Socks
Boots
Umbrellas
Peanut Butter (Small)
Protein Bars
Sardines
Cheese & Crackers
Food in pull-top cans
Non-perishables
"Snack-Packs" of Cookies/Chips
Shop-Rite Gift Cards
Toothpaste
Portable/Travel Toothbrush
Deodorant
Lip Balm
Hand Sanitizer
Dry Shampoo
Band-Aids
Disp. Razors
Vitamins
Sanitary Napkins
Moist Wipes
Travel-size Tissues

Whether shopping through your closets or stores, think of items that are small and portable, and do not need refrigeration or heated preparation. Many of the recipients will not have a way of cooking meals or storing perishables. And, if they are homeless, there is a limit to what they can carry.

For more information, please contact Andy Skurna at GAAMC ([email protected]) or Theresa Markila ([email protected]).

You may drop off your donations at GAAMC on Monday, 9/3, or Monday, 9/17, between 6:30 PM and 10:00 PM.

Items will be distributed by and at:

First United Methodist Church
41 E. Blackwell St., Dover, NJ  07801

4:00 PM on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018
