In honor of Martin Luther King Day, GAAMC will host its first-ever Brotherhood Buffet, a potluck event where all members come together to share their heritage and/or culture. Each member and guest is asked to bring a dish (entree, side or dessert) from their ethnic or cultural heritage, or a favorite from where they grew up, to share with the group. Each dish should be labeled with a 3x5" index card explaining what the dish is, and what you feel it's cultural significance is.
Our plan is to begin serving dinner at 7:00 PM, so please be prompt. Beginning at 7:30 PM, we will screen the 2018 documentary "I Am MLK, Jr."
Released by Paramount Network (formerly Spike TV), "I Am MLK, Jr." features interviews with political analyst Van Jones, Rev. Al Sharpton, comedian/actor Nick Cannon, basketball superstar Carmelo Anthony, Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins and many more, the documentary is the latest installment in the cable network's critically-acclaimed "I Am" series, which hails from documentarian Derik Murray (I Am Heath Ledger, I Am Chris Farley, I Am Bruce Lee).
Focusing on five significant events in Dr. King's life (The Montgomery Bus Boycott, The Birmingham Campaign, March on Washington, the Selma Movement, and his assassination on April 4, 1968), "I Am MLK Jr." was released to mark the 50th anniversary of his death.
