Join the group at GAAMC this Monday, August 21, for an interesting review of "The Joys of August!" Come to share your favorite summer activities. You might even learn a thing or two. For instance, did you know that peridot, the green gemstone for August, is formed in the earth's mantle and is found in hardened lava. It also comes to earth in meteorites, and the sand on the Big Island of Hawaii is a rare green hue because of crushed olivine, the main mineral in peridot?
Do you have a pet? August provides both a National Cat Day and a National Dog Day to celebrate them, as though you don't already do that everyday!
And those special foods of summer - watermelon, s'mores, ice-cream sandwiches, root beer floats, creamsicles - yep, every one of these luscious treats gets its own day!
Refreshments will be provided. A small donation is requested.
